What can be provided as medical evidence if my child is absent?
- Proof of an appointment e.g card/text/email, Copy of a prescription or evidence of prescription. Drs note or copy of medical notes – unpaid we do not expect you to pay for a Drs note unless Education welfare request this.
What happens if i send my child into school and they are unwell during the day?
- If your child feels unwell during the school day they should report to their Head of Year/class teacher and parents will be contacted.
What happens if my child has a religious holiday, eg EID, will this be authorised?
- Religious holidays will be authorised in accordance with the local authority guidelines.
What happens if my child is being bullied and refuses to attend?
- You can contact your child’s head of year or pastoral assistant for support regarding this who will put measures in place to support your child. We also have antibullying co coordinators who will support your child and put measures in place.
Do I need to report my child's absence everyday, if they are absent for a number of days with the same thing?
- Yes, please contact the academy each day your child is absent.
Do i need to contact school if my child has a medical appointment?
- Yes, please contact the academy to explain your child will be absent, where possible please try and get appointments outside of the school day or only miss part of the school day.
Do I need to provide proof of medical evidence for appointments?
- Yes, please bring in a copy of your child’s appointment or email a copy in to the attendance team.
Where do I find the request for holiday forms if i want to take my child on holiday during term time?
- Holiday forms can be found on the school website or from your school reception.
Will my holiday request be authorised?
- The trust does not authorise term time holidays unless there are exceptional circumstances – evidence must be provided for this.
Can work be provided for my child if they are absent form school?
- We do not provide work for your child if they are absent unless this is due to a medical procedure and they will be absent for a long period of time. Please contact your child’s Head of year to discuss this.
