Coronavirus: COVID-19 Parent Update and Government Guidance

Alpha Academies Trust Announcement

Adhering to the Government’s announcement on 18th March 2020, Alpha Academies Trust will remain open to the children of key workers who are unable to provide childcare at home and children who have been identified as vulnerable.

Throughout Monday 23rd March and Tuesday 24th March, Alpha Academies Trust will evaluate the uptake of students at each of our academies. A scenario may arise whereby it is necessary to amalgamate the populations of different academies into provision hubs as a consequence of student and staffing levels.

Furthermore, the Government have cancelled all public examinations (GCSEs), and Alpha Academies Trust will follow the Department of Education’s advice regarding this development. We understand this is an anxious time for you and your children, and we appreciate the hard work already completed by your children in preparation for their exams. We will communicate with students and parents in regards to how qualifications will be awarded as soon as more information is made available by the Government.

Chief Executive Officer

Please follow this guidance when deciding whether to send your child to the Academy today and for the foreseeable future. The health and welfare of our students remains our top priority. For guidance on how to identify coronavirus symptoms, please click here.

The latest advice is that if students are showing the following common symptoms of Coronavirus:

  • A new continuous cough
  • And / or a high temperature

They should self-isolate, however mild the symptoms, for a period of 14 days. If anyone else in the household shows symptoms of the Coronavirus disease, then the entire household should self-isolate for 14 days.

You do not need to call NHS 111 to go into self-isolation. Do not visit a GP surgery, pharmacy, or hospital. If a child becomes unwell whilst at the academy, they will be isolated and we will contact parents / carers to collect them.
